  Having visited many times over the years, I was looking forward to seeing the newly refurbished Mount Pleasant. The updated bar itself is a nice improvement; however, the removal of much of the seating means that many customers are now left standing. Unfortunately, this has also created an atmosphere where some regulars openly complain about visitors sitting in what they consider to be “their seats,” which feels unwelcoming and off-putting. It’s a shame, as what was once a traditional local pub centred around good conversation and a friendly community atmosphere — where it was easy to strike up a conversation and make new friends — has now become more like another sports bar, despite the area really needing more family-friendly venues.

  When Jill the landlady left the pub went downhill and we gave our custom elsewhere . Since Ben has taken over we are back . The atmosphere is second to none and it is has a real welcoming vibe. I hope Ben stays a long time so we can keep enjoying our beautiful local pub.

  This is a great friendly local that was nearly going under after the longstanding landlady Gill decided to leave the pub. After a few false starts with running the pub after Gill left, Ben has been a breath of fresh air, and rejuvenated the place so it can be enjoyed by everyone in the area. Great beer. Still as friendly as ever. Well done. Hopefully the pub will now go from strength to strength with Ben at the helm.

  The mount,my local for 38 years, appeared near to closing after our much loved landlady Gill gave up the lease when it became too difficult to sustain.However along came Ben,the newly installed manager who brought fresh ideas to keep the pub going.This guy has turned the fortunes of the pub around with new regulars and plenty of passing trade who often return for the excellently kept beers.Well done Ben hope you're here for many years to come.
